July 1, 2019 Crop Update

It is hot and crops have been suffering. I am seeing an increased number of stink bugs in the field and in the traps. I am seeing an increase in armyworm moths and larva. Soybeans are spotty and short due to early drought than too much rain. Soybeans are puckering due to extreme heat and humidity. Corn leaves are rolling as a protection from the heat and to conserve moisture. Wheat harvest is through some have double-cropped soybeans some have not due to moisture concerns. Tobacco is doing fair due to better root development this year from last. Keep scouting fields for insects disease other issues in your fields.
