Crop Update July 12, 2019

Well, we are back to hot and humid! Soybeans seem to not be doing as well due to early drought some heavy rains and the extreme heat. Corn is progressing and doing better but had some extreme heat for about three weeks. Tobacco that set deeper roots is looking okay but again there is some uneven in the plants but I am seeing less of the uneven plants as time progresses. Hemp has struggled and there have been replants on just about everyone. Hemp is all over the board in size and planting dates. Hemp is another plant that needs to set a better root. The rain and high humidity create a bad disease environment on hemp and the genetics for any resistance is not very good. Insects are on the increase some have sprayed for stinkbugs in tobacco and other crops. Keep scouting your fields see what is out there!
