Annual Veterans Appreciation event
For the 11th year, the Granville County Veterans Affairs Committee will host its Annual Veterans Appreciation Event to say “thank you” to all those who have served their country. This year’s event will mark America’s 250 as it commemorates the sacrifices made by these heroes and how their service made it possible to reach this celebratory mark.
Northern Granville Middle School will be the site on Saturday, March 7th, with doors opening at 1:00 pm so attendees can take advantage of displays by groups offering resources to veterans and their families. The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will travel back in time to hear John Penn, one of three North Carolina signers of the Declaration of Independence, (in the person of Mark Pace, local historian) as he relates what it was like to work toward drafting that cornerstone document. It promises to be an interesting look “behind the scenes” that promises to be interesting and entertaining. Refreshments will follow the program, and the entire event is free.
