Stay Hydrated

(Updated: July 22, 2022, 5:21 p.m.)

Water is the most important beverage to consume because roughly 60% of our body is water.  And during the hot summer months, it is even more important to stay hydrated by drinking water. Children and older adults are more susceptible to dehydration. Dehydration is the single most common reason for older adults to go to an emergency room. Signs of mild dehydration include dizziness or lightheadedness, dry mouth, lips and eyes, headache, and fatigue. These symptoms are telling your body it is time to rehydrate. Many of the beverages we consume are filled with sugar or salt, which will dehydrate us, causing us to want to drink more, which makes us reach for another unhealthy beverage. Instead of adding on the sugar and calories, reach for a refreshing glass of water.

Therefore, throughout the month of July, we are teaching a virtual workshop on Tuesday, June 26th at 12:00pm. If you wish to receive any information, through the mail or email, or you wish to attend the workshop, contact jennifer.brown@ncsu.edu or call 336-599-1195.
