Granville County Library System staff were joined by County Commissioners, Cooperative Extension staff and volunteers, and members of the Berea community to hold a ribbon cutting celebrating the Berea Branch Library joining the Library System’s Farm to Fridge program. This collaboration between the Library System, local farmers, civic groups, and food banks aims to address food insecurity in Granville County. The Farm to Fridge program provides fresh food to library visitors who can take as much as they need to supplement the food they have access to at home. N.C. Cooperative Extension, Granville County Center is instrumental in keeping fridges stocked, maintaining partnerships, and coordinating volunteers who pick up and deliver food to library branches throughout the county. With the addition of the Berea Library, all four Library System branches now participate in the Farm to Fridge program.
The Berea Branch Library is located at 1211 US Highway 158, Oxford. The branch is open on Tuesday (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), Thursday (1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.), and Friday (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). Farm to Fridge is also available at the Richard H. Thornton Library (210 Main Street, Oxford), the South Branch Library (1550 South
Campus Drive, Creedmoor), and the Stovall Branch Library (300 Main Street, Stovall).
