A blueberry workshop will be held at 2292 US HWY 158, Oxford, NC, on February 16th, from 10:00am - 12:00pm. This workshop will include information about growing blueberries and proper pruning techniques. Getting to know your woodlands: A primer for beginners
Join other woodland landowners through out the region to learn about how you can take better care of your woodlands. This is a regional Extension course being offered in 5 sessions. The first four sessions are webinars hosted by your local Extension center on Thursdays from 7-9 PM from February 21, 2019 to March 14, 2019.
February 21, 2019: 7-9 PM Getting to know your Woodlands, learn how natural and human forests have shaped the forest in this region and the importance of this knowledge when developing management plans and practices on their forests.
February 28, 2019: 7-9 PM Managing your Woodlands, learn about the basics of pine and hardwood management with tips on managing for the future.
March 7, 2019: 7-9 PM Identifying and Managing Woodland Threats, learn about forest health with emphasis on a few basic pest principles, model example of each threat, and some simple practices to help ensure your woodland remains healthy and productive.
March 14, 2019: 7-9 PM Wildlife and Woodlands, learn about wildlife and your woodlands with a focus on wildlife habitat requirements and enhancing habitat for game and non-game wildlife.
An optional fifth session maybe offered by the local Extension center. To participate in this course contact one of the following Extension offices.
