This will be one of the hottest weeks of the summer. many tobacco fields are battling black shank, target spot, bud, and horn worms. Soybean fields are blooming and setting small pods, but I am concerned about flower aborting in later plant soybeans with hot temperatures affecting yield. Corn is progressing and looks good, and stinkbug numbers are low and not doing much damage as in previous years. Insect Moth count numbers across the board have dropped and are lower this week. Scout your fields and remember the Popcorn Tour on August 24 at the Oxford Research Station from 9 till 11 a.m.!
