Food for Thought: Just Keep Moving
The warmer weather has me thinking like Dory from the Finding Nemo movie telling myself to “just keep moving.” The hot and humid weather can suck the energy out of me especially if I am trying to be active outdoors. So, here are some tips I use to help me stay active during the summer months. Get moving early. I feel better if I get up and go ahead and get my 30 minutes of physical activity done in the morning so it is one less thing on my to-do list for the day and I am not dreading it all day. Whether it is walking, some basic stretches, or exercising at lunchtime, it is important to get your exercise in while you have the most energy. Find a buddy. It is always helpful if you have someone to walk or workout with. You are more like to stick with it if you have someone holding you accountable. And, lastly, be consistent, not perfect. You are never going to always hit your workout goals and that is okay. Your goal should be to be consistent in your exercises, even if you have to take a day off here and there.
