Nineteen youth, representing three clubs, from Carteret County participated in the 2021 Coastal Plains Chicken Project, raising over 50 chickens. Those who participated are:

The Coastal Plains Chicken Project is an opportunity for 4-H’ers to learn how to raise chickens while learning showmanship and record-keeping skills. Participants have the opportunity to choose between layers or broilers (meat birds).

In addition to showing the chickens in a breed class and a showmanship class, they must also complete a Project Record Book that expands their knowledge of raising poultry and encourages project-specific record keeping. These project books are turned in prior to the event and youth receive awards the evening of the show.

Project Record Books are submitted in age categories of Cloverbuds, 8-10, 11-13, and 14-18. The following Carteret County youth were recognized/placed in Project Record Books:

The Coastal Plains Chicken Show was held on April 27, 2021, and youth participated in a showmanship class and breed class. Carteret County youth placing in Showmanship and Breed Classes were:
