Starting March 30, 2020, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Agronomic Lab will operate on a limited basis. At this time the lab will remain open because it is considered an essential service, however, there may be a delayed turnaround for samples. NCDA&CS provided turnaround times for samples being submitted going forward until the COVID-19 crisis is over. The following information has been provided to us by NCDA&CS;

  • If growers are having problems and need to submit diagnostic soil and/or nematode samples these will still be accepted at this time. Turnaround time is 7 days for soil or as listed on PALS. Turnaround time for nematode samples is 3 days or as listed on PALS.
  • Growers wanting to submit predictive soil and nematode samples are being asked to wait until this crisis is over.
  • Diagnostic plant, waste, solution and media samples will be analyzed but there may be a 1-2 day delay.
  • Predictive plant, waste (except lagoon and slurry samples), solution and media samples will be analyzed but there may be a 1-2 day delay.
  • Lagoon and slurry waste samples will not be analyzed until June 1, 2020, based on a waiver granted by North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.

All samples that are currently in the lab at this time will be processed in a timely manner. If there are fees associated with your samples, you will be invoiced. Please be patient with the lab during this time. They are operating with a limited number of employees and are doing their best to provide results for priority or essential samples. If you have questions, please call the N.C. Cooperaitve Extension, Davie County Center (336-753-6100) for additional information. Please continue to check our website for updated information.
