4-H members in Bladen County and other youth ages 5 to 18 it is time to enjoy days with no school, lakes and pools, friends and fun! Bladen County 4-H can help add to the excitement and education of your summertime.

This summer we are offering many different types of programs that will provide learning and fun while developing leadership and STEM skills for youth ages 5 to 18. Our 4-H Summer programs are brought to you with support from North Carolina A&T State University, NC State Extension, United Way of Bladen County, Smithfield Hog Production, and more!

First, we will kick off our Summer with the 4-H Summer Fun Kickoff: All Hands on TECH on June 8, 2019. This event will be held at our office, the Powell Melvin  Agriculture Building at 450 Smith Circle In Elizabethtown, NC. 4-H Summer Fun Kick Off 2019

Ages 5 to 12 will have STEAM activities from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and then from 12:30 to 2 p.m. we will have activities for 13-18-year-olds. Volunteers can also register using the same link.

Registration can be turned in at the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Bladen County Center at 450 Smith Circle in Elizabethtown, NC. The forms can be downloaded and printed in advance here: summer fun enroll 2019

Each workshop has specific details regarding cost and age. Our office is open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Additionally, we will be kicking off a brand new program for rising 9th through 12th graders this summer, 4-H LEADS: Preparing for Tomorrow, Succeeding Today. Registration is required to participate in this program that will kick off on June 27 with an orientation with parents and youth from 5 to 7 p.m. Registration is required using the link https://go.ncsu.edu/4hleads-youth-registration-form – all interested participants should register before June 21.

Lastly, we plan to take our Growing 4-H: Full STEAM Ahead on the road visiting the Healthy Bladen Kids sites and summer feeding sites throughout the summer. These events will be offered FREE in partnership with Bladen County School’s Summer Feeding Program and Bladen County Parks and Recreation.

Scheduled dates and times are as follows:

June 27 – Elizabethtown King Street Gym: 10 to 11:30 a.m.

June 27 – Elizabethtown Middle Cafeteria: Noon to 1:30 p.m.

July 11 – Tar Heel Middle School Gym: 10 to 11:30 a.m.

July 15 – Bladenboro Middle School Cafeteria: 10 to 11:30 a.m.

July 15 – West Bladen High School Cafeteria: Noon to 1:30 p.m.

July 18 – Clarkton School of Discovery Cafeteria: 10 to 11:30 a.m.

July 18 – East Arcadia School gym: 2 to 3:30 p.m.
