The Granville Cooperative Extension Service is now accepting applications for the Redding Family Foundation (RFF) and Granville County Extension Volunteer Association (EVA) scholarships through May 1, 2014.
The RFF was established in memory of Mr. & Mrs. J.R. Redding by their son, Marshall E. Redding, M.D. Dr. Redding is a former Granville County resident and prominent cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon in Long Beach, California. The Foundation perpetually contributes to the cost of undergraduate education among students who possess the intellectual capabilities for academic success, demonstrate financial need, and have the desire and ability to make positive contributions to society. Students who are residents of Granville County and will be enrolled in a 4-year degree college or university for the 2014-2015 school year may apply. All applications must be returned to the Cooperative Extension office at 208 Wall Street in Oxford or postmarked and mailed to PO Box 926, Oxford 27565 by May 1, 2014. Former applicants and recipients who are continuing their undergraduate studies are encouraged to reapply.
There are two EVA scholarships of $500 each will be awarded to deserving high school graduates who are pursuing either a 4-year degree preferably in Life Sciences, Agriculture, or Family and Consumer Sciences or a 2-year degree in a service or business related field. Only graduating high school seniors are eligible to apply for these scholarships. A third $500 scholarship is available to a deserving workforce adult enrolled in a 1, 2, or 4-year North Carolina institute of higher learning who is working toward a degree in any business or service related field.
